This is a class for everyone who does, and plans to, travel in the backcountry this spring when the snow pack stabilizes. It’s been a year since traveling in the backcountry was safe which is why we have put together this class to review the basics for seasoned backcountry travelers and teach the fundamentals to those who are not.
This full day class will be divided into 2 distinct sessions- companion rescue and touring essentials. The morning will focus on Companion Rescue because face it, if you don’t know how to rescue your partner(s), you shouldn’t be out in the elements. The afternoon will be a snowcat assisted tour with the chance to look at terrain choices, route finding and basic snow science.
