Leadville Loppett

Dates:
Sat, 2013-02-23 (All day) - Sun, 2013-02-24 (All day)
The Leadville Loppet is in its 10th year in 2013, and it is an annual fundraiser for the Mineral Belt Trail. This 44 km nordic ski race course meanders through rolling forested terrain in CMC’s Timberline Trail network and leads racers to the Mineral Belt. From there the skiers climb and descend abandoned rail grades left from Leadville’s historic mining era, and return to Colorado Mountain College for the finish. The race is followed by soup and an awards banquet in the new Climax Molybdenum Leadership building at CMC.  Racers can choose from 10km, 22km or 44km courses.

There is also a 5k Open Costume Party and Fun Race, open to Freestyle, Classic, Randonee, Tele-Skis, Split Snowboards, 2×4′s, homemade skis, doubles, triples, etc.  Climbing skins are encouraged.   Costumes are also highly encouraged, but not necessary. Registrations will be taken at the 5k start/finish on the soccer field starting at approximately 9:00. A $10 donation to the Mineral Belt Trail is suggested. We are looking to start the 5k at about 10:30, but who knows…just be there!  Click here for registration.
